Melbourne during a typical winter evening

I’ve been finding myself surprisingly busy during Week 2 itself! Hopefully its just the work kicking in after the holidays (during which I did almost nothing) and things will get back to normal soon.

Its a very classy picture with those skyscrapers in different hues complementing the clouds and river

do u always carry ur camera with you, to capture such classy moments…. the sky looks great!!

No Souvik, I don't carry it with me always. This time around, I specifically took it with me and got to the city an hour or so earlier to shoot some pictures.

Grrr. I had written such a long comment last night :(

Did you decide not to post that or were you not able to comment?

Er.. looks like I probably closed the window before my darned connection could send the data to your servers. Anyways-

I always like 'urban' pics, as I told you when you once asked what type of photos we would like to see.

I think this could–have–been a great picture, but the there are some things which ruined it. For instance the cobalt blue building to the extreme right is simple and elegant but is surrounded by dull buildings. The central blue one looks ugly because of those towers on top of it and so does the grey one on the left. The building with the dome (is it a church?) just seems completely out of place due to the architecture. There are a few other small things too…

Did you deliberately capture the bird? Nice. I wish the sun that the sun was shining more brightly, it would have really completely changed the picture. ( Kinda inspired by ddoi? I agree that site is amazing, hooked ever since I was on Google Reader)

Long comment as I said, but then I have always been attached to this 'genre' and I somehow saw great potential in this picture, not that I really anything about photography.

Ah..that was a very insightful comment so thank you for that.

I noticed :). Its just I find it a pain carrying my camera when I go to the city.

I didn't really give so much thought about the architecture of each building while framing this shot but thanks for pointing out. I'll keep it in mind next time I'm composing something similar. :)

The building with the dome is the Flinders street station. The red one behind that is a church.

Did you deliberately capture the bird?

Yes!

…the sun was shining more brightly, it would have really completely changed the picture.

I don't think the colours would've come out so nice if the sun was shining more brightly.

Kinda inspired by ddoi?

Yup! You cannot not–be–inspired by ddoi.

Oh I actually wanted to say that the sun's 'colour' (the orange) showed more. Like the ddoi picture you linked, remember?

Rungta said.. Reply

Oh..yeah I remember the picture you're talking about.

The skyscrapper pic… You needed a pic of this on your blog. Always wanted to take a pic of the NY skyscrappers.( maybe someday ;) ) Well this could be your practice shot for others to come. Well as Aditya mentioned the architecture of the bulidings- not very flattering, but thats just the object of the pic. But the pics been shot beautifully.. the bird especially caught my eye first. And as always always love your timing of capturing the sky.

Yeah Rashmi, maybe someday. :)
